Students and staff at Lee Early College were treated to a pajama day, hot chocolate, popcorn and a holiday movie afternoon to celebrate the school's designation as an "A" grade school on the NC School Report Cards. It was a well deserved reward for a great group of hard working students and staff! #LCSthrive

A COMMUNITY OF VOLUNTEERS. Today is International Volunteer Day and we are so thankful for the army of volunteers that keep our schools moving forward each and every day. Whether it is serving concessions at an athletic event, serving on a parent-teacher organization committee, providing cultural learning opportunities for students, or helping bring exciting events like a color run to life for our students, this community consistently steps up to the plate to give our students their time, talents, and energy.
We are grateful for every volunteer that take the time to make our schools a better place! Thank you for investing in the future of our community and helping students thrive.

Deep River decked the halls last night with an incredibly festive party for students and families. Games and treats were accompanied by guest appearances from the Grinch and the big man himself, Santa Claus. Thanks for stopping by for a great night at the River! #LCSfamily

Today, we celebrate National Special Education Day, commemorating the day that President Gerald Ford signed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act some 49 years ago. We are grateful for this day as it was a huge step towards ensuring every child receives the free and appropriate public education that they each deserve which is specifically tailored to their unique individual needs.
We are proud of the teachers, staff, students and families that take part in our exceptional children programs at Lee County Schools and salute the role of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in helping each student reach their full potential.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Lee County Schools!
We hope your holiday is one you will be grateful for in the years to come. Be safe and enjoy your turkey today!

Earlier this week, Tramway AIG students presented their annual Wax Museum project. Each student researches a significant figure in North Carolina History and portrayed them for parents and other students, answering questions about their achievements and telling their story.
Figures from James K. Polk, the eleventh President of the United States, to television sheriff Andy Griffith, and the late great women's basketball coach from NC State University, Kay Yow, were portrayed giving students an opportunity to imagine the impact each made on our state and nation.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are developing a strategic plan for Lee County Schools, and we value your input. To ensure that our plan reflects the needs and perspectives of our parents/guardians and community members, we are conducting a survey.
Your insights will provide valuable information about the strengths and areas for growth within our schools. This survey is anonymous. Please complete it by December 6th, 2024.

Our substitute teachers are an essential part of our school community. Join us in saying thank you to the amazing substitute educators across Lee County School District for their hard work and commitment to student success. We appreciate all that you do!

National Parental Involvement Day is a time to recognize the incredible impact families, but particularly parents and guardians, have on student success at each one of our school campuses. Research shows students perform better academically, socially, and emotionally when their families are actively involved in their education.
Whether it’s volunteering, attending parent-teacher conferences, or simply supporting learning at home, your involvement makes all the difference. At Lee County Schools we are proud to partner with parents and guardians to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for all our students. To the amazing parents and caregivers across our district, we THANK YOU for your dedication to helping students thrive. We are so grateful for your partnership!

Did you know that Lee County Schools is the only district in the state other than Charlotte-Mecklenburg that offers four NAF Academies to help prepare students specialized careers in Engineering, Finance, Health Sciences, and Hospitality & Tourism?
In fact, Southern Lee and Lee County High Schools make up two of the three schools in North Carolina who offer all four of these nationally-renowned academy program options to students within a single high school facility.
What is a NAF Academy? We're glad you asked!
As we celebrate National Career Development Week, take a minute to learn about these specialized opportunities that prepare students to thrive that are available right here in Lee County Schools: https://www.lee.k12.nc.us/article/1887551

We are FULL of thanks! Today was a huge day for many of our school cafeterias as they opened up to not just students, but parents and families to celebrate a Thanksgiving Meal together. As any one who regularly prepares food for their family's annual celebration knows, a tremendous amount of hard work goes into the preparation of the food and the presentation of the meal.
Judging by the smiling faces and clean plates, our child nutrition staff and many volunteers helped make today's school lunch a time to remember and cherish for many families of students across the district. Thank you to each who played a part in the festivities!
Hope you enjoy a few snapshots from the school family gathering at Deep River Elementary School today!

J. Glenn Edwards is currently experiencing a power outage due to an automobile accident. Students are safe and crews are working to restore power. It is not necessary to pick up your child, however if you choose to do so, please pick up by 2:00 p.m. Please see your email for additional information.

Education Support Professionals play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for every student. Whether it’s ensuring classrooms are clean, meals are served, or students get to school safely, their hard work and dedication make a difference every single day.
Our support team goes above and beyond to serve all our campuses, both inside and outside their designated areas. For example at W.B. Wicker, an "All Hands on Deck" approach means that even the custodial staff takes extra time to assist students, including offering additional study sessions to help them succeed.
Whether they are the smiling faces students see first thing in the morning when they get on the bus, the friendly voices greeting parents on the phone or at the front office, assisting teachers in classroom lessons and management or serving meals in the cafeteria, today we celebrate the vital role each Education Support Professional plays in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where all students can thrive.
Happy Educational Support Professionals Day to each of you! We are glad you are part of our #LCSfamily
