Also last night at the BOE meeting, the appointment of Robert Newby to the position of Principal at Lee County High School was approved. Mr. Newby has demonstrated strong leadership in his tenure at East Lee Middle and we look forward to his work at his alma mater, LCHS.

Following last night's Board of Education meeting we are pleased to announce that Amy Lundy has been appointed Principal at Southern Lee High School. She brings a wealth of experience from more than a decade of leadership as principal at Deep River Elementary.

Lee County Schools is committed to investing in our staff. Tonight at the Board of Ed meeting, we recognized ten Assistant Principals who were the first group to complete the intensive Lee Leadership Development Program over the last year. We're proud of this group and their desire to grow and thrive!

Our teachers are constantly learning, loving, teaching and transforming at Lee County Schools. Taking a rigorous two-year LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) professional learning course was no easy feat. That is why we are celebrating the #LiteracyChampions in all of our elementary schools. Each elementary teacher who has been in the district for the last two years has completed this critical training.
Thank you to each of our teachers for their commitment to transforming lives through literacy learning in Lee County Schools.#LETRS
