The Lee County Board of Education honored the recipient of the state's first ever English Language Development (ELD) Recognition Award, Mrs. Paola De Avila, the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher from Southern Lee High School. She is a tremendously active part of the community at Southern Lee and critical to student success, particularly for newcomers to the country and community. Congratulations to Mrs. De Avila!

As we look towards the first day for our traditional calendar schools tomorrow, we are glad to remind you that ALL students can receive FREE breakfast and lunch at every LCS Campus for the 2024-2025 school year! No forms are required! We are glad to be able to provide this service for our students. #LCSthrive

Reminder about Open House tonight across the district! Elementary Schools are on from 4-6p, Middle Schools and Bragg Street from 5-6:30, High Schools open from 6-7:30 pm,. We can't wait to welcome all of you back to campus!


Tramway Elementary and Lee Early College will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Friday, August 9. This delay will allow for additional daylight hours to ensure the safe travel of buses and provide extra time to make any necessary adjustments to our schedule should weather conditions change overnight.
Staff on the traditional calendar will also operate on a two-hour delay, and it will be an optional workday.
Please be advised that any further updates or changes to this decision will be communicated by 6:00 AM tomorrow.


Lee County Schools employees started off the year with some festive opening staff meetings for the 2024-2025 year today. From a pirate themed kickoff at J. Glenn Edwards to a roaring good time with delicious snacks at West Lee, staff set the course for a tremendous school year!









Due to expected inclement weather, all 2024 Open Houses for Lee County Schools have been postponed to August 12th, 2024. Elementary Schools will conduct Open House from 4-6p, Middle Schools & Bragg Street will be from 5-6:30p, High Schools will be open from 6-7:30 pm.
Additionally, all school-related activities for Wednesday 8/7 and Thursday 8/8 are cancelled.


Due to expected inclement weather from Tropical Storm Debby, Tramway Elementary will shift to remote learning for Wednesday 8/7 and Thursday 8/8.
Lee Early College is cancelling the first day of classes on 8/8.
Staff will operate on an optional workday on Wednesday with early release at 1 pm and an optional remote workday for Thursday.

This week across the district, students who are heading into a new campus are getting the opportunity to familiarize themselves with their new school at Summer Bridge. It is a great opportunity for new students to get comfortable around new peers, faculty and school staff. New teachers made their way to SanLee Middle today for New Teacher Academy! Just like new students, there were some first day jitters, but a lot of excited faces as they got to hear from district personnel and reconnect with their administrators. Welcome to the #LCSfamily!

Students entering Kindergarten have entry requirements that include the appropriate type of vaccine administrations and the correct number of doses for the student's age. NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has set up a new online dashboard to help parents determine the vaccine requirements for their child's entry to Kindergarten.

We are excited to have some familiar faces taking on new roles with the district! Rachel Hurt has been named Director of Exceptional Children. Dr. Sharron Williams will now be the Director of Student Interventions & Success. Angel Mills will now be the Director of Multi-Lingual Education & Support.

These changes will better position the district to serve many of our special populations who have unique needs in their educational journey. "
