Our SROs mean so much to everyone at Southern Lee High School. They’re not just here for safety, they’re part of our everyday school life. From morning arrivals to school events, Officer's Weston and Pena always present with a friendly wave, a helping hand, or a calm voice when things get stressful. They take the time to build real relationships with students and staff, helping create a campus where people feel supported, seen, and safe.

What really makes our SROs special is how much they genuinely care. They listen, encourage, and step in whenever someone needs help, whether it’s a big situation or just a rough day. They lead by example, showing kindness, respect, and responsibility in everything they do. We’re incredibly thankful for their dedication and the positive energy they bring to our school community every single day 💙🧡

Black History Month is a time to honor, celebrate, and recognize the achievements, contributions, and history of African Americans. It highlights important leaders, innovators, artists, activists, and everyday individuals who have shaped our country and continue to inspire change.

Our Black History Month Spirit Week is a fun and meaningful way for our school community to celebrate together. The themed dress-up days were created by our SGA President to encourage school-wide participation and celebrate Black culture in engaging ways. Through these activities, we’re showing pride, learning more about Black history and culture, and promoting unity and respect within our school. It’s a week to celebrate culture, build understanding, and come together as one community.

Bus Driver Appreciation is a special time to recognize the dedication, patience, and care that bus drivers show every single day. They are often the first smiling face students see in the morning and the last one they see in the afternoon, helping set a positive tone for the school day. Rain or shine, bus drivers work hard to ensure students arrive safely and on time, navigating traffic and changing conditions with skill and responsibility. Their commitment to safety, kindness, and reliability plays an important role in supporting families and keeping our school community running smoothly. Let's give thanks to our bus drivers this week!

With so many emails filling your inbox each day, ParentSquare is the best way to keep all communication with the Cavalier team in one convenient place. You can even set your notifications to arrive at a specific time so you are not interrupted during work while still staying informed.

Don’t miss important updates about events like theatre performances, scholarship night for seniors, upcoming tests, or classroom announcements.

We have all heard it before:

“How was school today? Do you have any tests or homework?”
“It was fine. I’m all caught up. The teacher just hasn’t put the grades in.”

ParentSquare gives you the opportunity to hear directly from your student’s teachers about what is happening in each course. Instead of guessing, you will know.

Student success happens when we are all moving in the same direction. Miscommunication can slow that progress, but clear and consistent communication keeps everyone on the path.

Only together can we become the best Cavaliers we can be.

Thank you for your continued support,

Stay Connected
Our bus drivers are the heartbeat of our school mornings and afternoons. From those early, colorful sunrises to the last stop of the day, they show up with dedication, patience, and care. They greet our students with smiles, keep them safe, and often go above and beyond by filling in on extra routes when needed, making sure every Cavalier gets where they need to be.

Quite simply, we could not teach without them. Their commitment keeps our school running smoothly and our classrooms full. We appreciate their reliability, their kindness, and the countless unseen moments that make a huge difference every day. Thank you for being such an essential part of our Southern Lee family. 💙🧡

Due to persistent unsafe road conditions throughout the county, all schools will operate on a remote learning day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, for students. While many primary roads are clear, secondary roads and neighborhoods remain icy and hazardous, especially for school buses and student drivers. The safety of all students and staff in every part of the district must be the top priority, and conditions vary across the county. There will be an optional workday for staff starting at 9:00 a.m. Eligible employees may choose to telework if necessary. Employees should only report to work if they feel it is safe to do so. The district will work closely with all employees to ensure safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

remote learning day
Due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions, all schools will operate on a remote learning day tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, for all students and staff. Teachers sent home assignments on Friday in anticipation of possible remote instruction. Important reminders for families: • There will be no live/virtual instruction • Students will have five school days to submit remote learning assignments once we return to campus. • Students are not expected to work for hours at a time or follow a traditional school-day schedule • Short, manageable work periods, breaks as needed, and time with family are encouraged. Thank you for your continued support as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
