How long have your taught at Southern Lee High School?

“This is my 4th year!”

What college did you attend?  What made you choose it?

“I went to Sandhills Community College and majored in Pre-Art Education.  I then transferred to Appalachian State University where I majored in Art Education with a concentration in Ceramics. I chose Appalachian State because I wanted to be in the mountains.”

What’s your favorite team?  Who do support outside of the Cavaliers?

“Appalachian State Mountaineers and I also like NASCAR, specifically Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and Denny Hamlin.”

What’s the last show you binge watched?

“Probably Arcane or Derry Girls.”

How do you show “Cav Pride”?

“By leading SGA with Ms. Beautiful (AKA Ms. Wilkins) to encourage student involvement in spirit weeks and pep rallies, and by also working with the marching band and color guard.”

What kind of driver were you when you got your license?

“The kind that was hesitant to drive anywhere.”

What song do you hear that puts you back in your Senior year of high school?

Do you run and hide or greet with a smile when you see your students around town?

“Depends on the student. I usually just mind my own unless you speak to me first!  I know how awkward it is to see us outside of school.”

What’s your must have apps on your phone?

“Spotify, TikTok, YouTube. A must-have on my iPad is Procreate!”

What staff member (other than a science teacher) would you want for your lab partner?

“Mr. Brosilow and Ms. Beautiful.”

What song do you know all of the lyrics to?

“Every Single My Chemical Romance song.”

Did you go to your Prom?  Tell us all about it.

“Yes, I went both years. My junior year was Paris themed but can’t remember my senior theme.  We had them at the Civic Center and remember we had made indoor water fountains for both.”

Early bird or night owl?

“Early bird.”

Think back about your favorite teacher.  Who was it and what grade/subject did they teach?  List a few qualities or attributes they have.

“Kind and understanding.  They made their classroom somewhere I was excited to go to everyday. (Mrs. Dakdouk at Ingram and Mr. Noles at SLHS)”

Any pets?

“I have two Pitbull mixes named Emma and Cleo, as well as 12 chickens.”

What’s your favorite local places to eat and favorite food?

“Sushi at the Park in Cary. I LOVE sushi!”

What’s on your bucket list that you’ll actually accomplish?

“Go to Florence, Italy and see the city that I fell in love with while playing Assassin’s Creed.”

If you had $5,000 to give to a charity, where would you send the money?

“Firefighter’s Burned Children Fund.  My dad is the state president and local chapter president.  We hold a 3 Alarm Toy Drive every year that collects toys, blankets, pajamas, and other miscellaneous items.  I also love to volunteer my time at the Burn Camp the UNC Burn Center holds every year in May.”

In how many languages can you say “hello”?

“Just “hello”?  6!  Spanish, French, German, Gaelic, Japanese, and Chinese.”

What three things would you take on a desert island? (other than a boat)

“Fishing rod, a nice shady hat and flint for fire starting.”

What’s the most expensive mistake you’ve ever made?

“Purchasing my truck after getting my first teaching job, but honestly it was worth it because it’s paid off now.”

What advice would you give a parent who has a freshman?

“Reach out to your student’s teachers.”

What fictional character to you identify with most?

“Dory from Finding Nemo.”

How did you approach learning/studying your worst subject in high school/college?

“The only class I almost failed was Calculus in college. I’m usually great at math, but I was struggling.  I took full advantage of the tutoring service at the college library and online.”

What job/career did you think you would have before you went to college?

“A professional photographer.”

What was your first job? Where did you work? Duties?? Pay?

“I was a kiln manager at App State.  I helped make firing schedules and helped load and unload kilns.”

If you didn’t immediately seek a career in education, what was that spark?

“Sandhills didn’t have a photography program when I registered for college, so I decided to take a chance on Art Education.”
