Please help us get the word out to all of our families! Look for the white activity bus at our park locations throughout July. Meals are available at no cost, and no registration or identification is required. Children 18 years of age and younger must be present to receive a meal. Families are encouraged to bring the kids, pick up a nutritious lunch, and enjoy it in the park or take it home.
Together, we are making a positive impact by ensuring children have access to healthy meals throughout the summer.

Students who participated in our Elementary Summer Art Camp got to explore their artistic talents through an exciting partnership with the North Carolina Museum of Art. Throughout the camp, young artists got intensive time to work on larger projects and concepts than they do during the regular school year before getting a chance to visit the museum collections to be inspired by those works.
Our experimented with new techniques, and created unique works of art that showcase their imagination and creativity. From painting and drawing to mixed media projects, campers are building skills, expressing themselves, and discovering the joy of art in a fun and engaging environment.
A special thank you to the North Carolina Museum of Art for helping provide this enriching experience for our students!

Lee County Schools is announcing a leadership transition at Deep River Elementary School effective July 1, 2026.
After serving the Deep River community with dedication and compassion, Principal Emily Coggins will step down to focus on personal and family priorities. We thank her for her unwavering commitment to our students, staff and families and wish her all the best in this next chapter.
We are also excited to welcome Sal Cosimo as the new principal of Deep River Elementary. A familiar face in Lee County Schools, Cosimo brings more than a decade of experience in education and leadership and looks forward to building on the school's strong tradition of excellence.

Tonight, during the Lee County Board of Education meeting, longtime Chief Finance Officer Kelly Jones presented her final report to the Board as she prepares for her well-earned retirement.
For the past 15 years, Mrs. Jones has served the students, staff, and schools of Lee County with exceptional dedication, professionalism, and expertise. Her remarkable knowledge of the complex world of public school finance, coupled with her unwavering commitment to doing what is best for our schools, has made a lasting impact on our district.
While her financial expertise will certainly be missed, it is her friendship, leadership, and genuine care for the students and families of Lee County that will leave an enduring legacy. We are deeply grateful for her years of faithful service and wish her every happiness and blessing as she begins this exciting new chapter of life.

This remarkable group of seniors has worked hard, demonstrated leadership that extends beyond the campus walls, and exemplified Yellow Jacket Pride. Their resilience, determination and commitment have prepared them well for the opportunities ahead of them.
The Class of 2026 has earned millions of dollars in scholarship offers and will pursue wide ranging courses of study and career paths as they leave our Lee County Schools family. They have seen a record number (108 students) qualify for the Lee County K14 Promise Scholarship, which provides two years of tuition to Central Carolina Community College for students who qualify through their high school coursework and plan to utilize the program.

CAVS ONE WIN AWAY FROM A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!
It may not have started like we hoped, with South Caldwell jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Cavaliers battled back behind their ace on the mound, Ben Harrington. The Cavs plated two in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2, and Harrington and his defense held the Spartans in check for the rest of the game.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Southern Lee loaded the bases with no outs before plating five runs in the inning to take a 7-2 lead, which they held on to capturing the program's first victory in a State Championship Series. Harrington closed out the game in the seventh, finishing a complete game with eight strikeouts.
The DiamondCavs return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Burlington Athletic Stadium as they need just one more win to secure the school's first NCHSAA State Championship in a team sport. If Game 3 becomes necessary, it would be played at either 5 or 8 p.m. depending on the outcome of game 2 in the 7A Championship Series, which is also playing at Burlington Athletic Stadium tomorrow.

Last night, Southern Lee High celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026.
This group of seniors leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, achievement, and school pride. Throughout their time at Southern Lee, they have excelled in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and in service to their community. They have demonstrated character and determination that will carry them far beyond the graduation stage.
Members of the Cavalier Class of 2026 have been offered more than $3.5 million in academic scholarships. More than 100 members of this class qualified for the K14 Promise Scholarship which provides two years of tuition at Central Carolina Community College for qualifying students to earn an associates degree - some 69 of them plan to use that program. From the Class of 2026, 70 plan to attend a 4-year college or university beginning in the fall, 100 plan to attend a 2-year school and 22 are planning to join our nation’s armed forces.
Whether they are headed to colleges and universities across the state and nation or pursuing other dreams, they have shown that they are ready to make a meaningful impact on the world around them. As they turn the page to their next chapter, we are filled with pride and optimism for all they will accomplish.

This group of seniors leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, achievement, and school pride. Throughout their time at Southern Lee, they have excelled in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and in service to their community. They have demonstrated character and determination that will carry them far beyond the graduation stage.
Members of the Cavalier Class of 2026 have been offered more than $3.5 million in academic scholarships. More than 100 members of this class qualified for the K14 Promise Scholarship which provides two years of tuition at Central Carolina Community College for qualifying students to earn an associates degree - some 69 of them plan to use that program. From the Class of 2026, 70 plan to attend a 4-year college or university beginning in the fall, 100 plan to attend a 2-year school and 22 are planning to join our nation’s armed forces.
Whether they are headed to colleges and universities across the state and nation or pursuing other dreams, they have shown that they are ready to make a meaningful impact on the world around them. As they turn the page to their next chapter, we are filled with pride and optimism for all they will accomplish.

🎓 PREPARED TO THRIVE | Valedictorian Lauren Sloan leaves behind a legacy that is about more than academics at Lee County High
Tonight, valedictorian Lauren Sloan will cross the stage after a high school career filled with academic excellence, leadership, service and heart. From leading Key Club projects across the community to balancing IB classes, athletics, dance and work at MonkeyKat Books, Lauren hopes people remember her for more than just grades.
This fall, she will head to NC State University to study biological sciences with plans to pursue a future in medicine.
“I hope people have gained that you can be so much more than just brains, or athletics, or something people paint you as,” Lauren said.
