Good afternoon all, Due to continued unsafe road conditions across the county, all schools will operate on a remote learning day tomorrow, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, for students. While many primary roads are clear, secondary roads and neighborhoods remain icy and unsafe—particularly for school buses and student drivers. Conditions vary across the county, and decisions must be made with the safety of all students and staff in every part of the district in mind. Photos from bus routes traveled by our Transportation Department this afternoon are included for additional context. There will be an optional workday for staff beginning at 9:00 a.m. Eligible employees may telework, if needed. Employees should only report to work if they feel it is safe to do so. The district will work with all employees as needed to ensure safety. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Families of students at W.B. Wicker Elementary and Warren Williams Preschool, Within the last half hour, the Sanford Police Department requested that your child's campus be placed on a soft lockdown due to a high risk warrant. All students and staff were brought inside and kept in classrooms while local law enforcement conducted their warrant. Once law enforcement gave the all clear the school day resumed as normal. The lockdown lasted approximately 10 minutes.

Parents this is a reminder that our car rider dismissal line ends at 2:50pm. If you are in the line already you are fine! However, if you come after that time, you must come inside to sign your child out in the front office. Thank you for your understanding!

Today, our school proudly received official certification from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction confirming that we Met Growth for the 2024–2025 school year. This is an important milestone and a testament to the hard work of our students, staff, and school community. While we have set an even higher bar for ourselves this year, we are taking a moment to pause and celebrate this achievement. Meeting growth matters, and it reflects the steady progress we are striving to make year after year. As we move into the second half of the school year, our focus is clear and ambitious: Exceeding Growth. We are energized, motivated, and committed to finishing the year strong as we continue pushing ourselves—and each other—to the next level. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success. The best is still ahead. -Principal Beasley

Good evening parents! These are your Wicker Announcements for the week! We would like to thank those students who came out Friday night for our Winter Dance! I am sure they had plenty to say about the staff versus students dance battle and who danced the most! Thank you to our PTSO for providing the concession snacks . We would like to remind everyone about Check-Ins Testing that will take place this week for all of our students in 3rd through 5th grades. We will begin with Reading on Monday, Math on Tuesday, and fifth grade will take Life Science on Wednesday. We will have make-up testing available if your child misses a day due to illness, etc. Please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest and arrives on time to school each day. On Monday, January 12th at 3pm, in the Media Center, we will have our monthly SIT meeting. Parents are invited and welcomed to attend. Due to testing, there will be no after school activities on Tuesday and Thursday. Therefore, we will not have Tiger Time, Battle of the Books, Sports Club, or Science Olympiad. Thank you for your understanding. This is a reminder that Report Cards will be available in teh Parent Portal on Wednesday, January 14th. Please remember that our Tardy Bell rings at 7:55am. If you arrive after that time, you must come inside to sign your child in at the front office. We look forward to seeing everyone bright and early in the morning! Go Tigers!
