📣Friday Feature: Hi I’m Christy Haun. I am a kindergarten teacher assistant working with Mrs. Gunter. My family and I moved down here last year from Ohio and I miss the snow. My husband and I have been together 22 years and will be married for 20 years next year. We have a daughter, Mackenzie, who is in her junior year at BGSU in Ohio studying inclusive early childhood education k-5. I have a son CJ who is a junior in high school. I am working on getting my CDL to be a bus driver and also help tutor some 5th grade students every Tuesday and Thursday for Tiger Time. I have made it my goal this year to make sure that every child I come in contact with whether in the classroom, cafeteria, or as a hallway monitor know that they are loved and that I will always give them a hug when they need it. Every Friday, I try to have a pack of smarties in my pocket that I hand out and tell each child to make smart choices and to have a good day. I have made some wonderful friends with my coworkers and I’m so glad that I have joined the WB Wicker family. #TigerPride🐾

💛 Happy National School Psychology Week from W.B. Wicker Elementary! 💛 This week, we’re celebrating our outstanding school psychologists, Angela Piekielniak and Randy Staats! 🎉 Angela and Randy play a key role in helping every student reach their full potential. Through their careful testing and evaluations, they help identify students’ strengths and areas for growth, ensuring that each child receives the support they need to learn and thrive. 🧠✏️ Their work helps guide teachers and families in understanding how students learn best — making a lasting difference in both academic success and emotional well-being. 🌟 Thank you, Angela and Randy, for your compassion, professionalism, and dedication to our students and staff in Lee County! #SchoolPsychWeek #WBWicker #ThankYou

We have rolled out a new school-wide intervention: Flood the Room. For 30 minutes a day, every student in the building is working on Reading at the same time based on a needed skill. What's unique about having this intervention at the same time is that all staff can help.

Thank you to Mr. Paul Poe who stopped by this afternoon to make a donation to our school of the image that once hung in the Brick City Grill restaurant. After selling the restaurant, Mr. Poe decided to pass on the picture of the school that he once loved so much as a student.

📣 We’re Excited to Launch Our First Daytime Family Workshop!

Each month, we will host a session designed to keep families actively involved in their child’s education and provide tools to support learning at home.

✨ Our first session will focus on navigating the platforms that help you stay connected: Parent Portal, ClassDojo, and Here Comes the Bus.
This will be a drop-in workshop, offering one-on-one or small-group assistance with setup and navigation. Support will be available in English and Spanish.

🍎 Parents are also encouraged to bring a lunch and enjoy it with their child!

Together, we can strengthen the school–home connection for every student. 💙
