Hispanic Heritage Month is important to high school students because it gives them the chance to celebrate and learn about the rich traditions, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. It helps students understand history beyond textbooks by showing how Hispanic leaders, artists, scientists, athletes, and activists have shaped society. For Hispanic students, it’s a time of pride and recognition, while for others it’s an opportunity to appreciate diversity and build respect for different backgrounds.
At Southern Lee, celebrating this month can create a sense of belonging, encourage cultural awareness, and spark conversations about identity and inclusion. It also inspires Cavaliers to see role models who look like them achieving success in many fields, reminding them that their culture and heritage are valuable. By honoring Hispanic Heritage Month, we not only connect with the past but also learn how diversity strengthens their communities and future opportunities.

Keep a watch on your tradies and absences from each class. Students learn best when they are present in class and arrive on time. Students can be exempt from their Final Exam (except EOC & CTE) depending on their end-of-semester grade and accumulated absences and tardies.

Scholarships & Recognition – HOSA offers many scholarships and awards that can support students pursuing healthcare degrees.
Community Service – Students participate in health-related service projects, giving back to their community while building a strong résumé.
