Here are 6 strong reasons how the WorkKeys test (and earning the National Career Readiness Certificate) can help high school seniors with their future careers:
âś… 1. Shows employers you have real workplace skills
The WorkKeys assessment measures skills like applied math, problem-solving, and reading workplace documents. These are skills used in all jobs—not just academic settings. Employers take it seriously because it's tied directly to job performance.
✅ 2. Makes your résumé stand out
Earning a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) gives you an official credential you can list on your résumé, LinkedIn, college applications, and job applications.
✅ 3. Helps match students to careers they’re already strong in
WorkKeys helps students identify career areas based on their strengths and skill levels, reducing guesswork about what career path to pursue.
âś… 4. Opens access to more job opportunities
Thousands of companies (especially in manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, and public service) use WorkKeys scores during hiring or promotion decisions. Some employers require the certificate.
âś… 5. Saves time and money on training
WorkKeys helps students avoid jobs they are unprepared for and find roles where they can succeed without extra training. Better fit = less job turnover.
âś… 6. Builds confidence for entering the workforce
Seeing a score that represents real abilities gives students validation of their strengths. “I can do this. I’m ready.”
