Mrs. Dakdouks’ class is making some beautiful noise as they dive into learning about the orchestra! 🎶
Today, our music teacher, Mr. Miller (and former marching band instructor), brought learning to life by introducing students to the brass family. He demonstrated how to play the trumpet, and students got to see—and hear—how it works up close!
Ask your second grader about how to play a trumpet and see if they can tell you the special word musicians use—“buzz”—when they buzz their lips into the mouthpiece to create sound. 🎺
We’re excited to keep the learning going as students explore the other three families of the orchestra. They’re especially looking forward to trying out a string instrument—the ukulele—later this week! 🎻
Learning is loud, fun, and hands-on in second grade! 💛

In celebration of Arts in Our Schools Month, J. R. Ingram students pose with their artwork at the Lee County Schools District Youth Art Month Show. The show is at the Mann Center and is sponsored by the Lee County Arts Council. 2-D work will be on display until March 17.
