🎮📚 Game On: Level Up! Our Eagles are powering up their reading skills with Six Minute Solutions! In these pictures, Ms. Spivey’s group—and students all around the building—are practicing fluency like champs.
Here’s how it works: students spend just six minutes a day reading short passages, building speed, accuracy, and confidence. The best part? They can track their own progress—like unlocking new achievements every time their scores improve! 🏆✨
We love seeing the excitement when students “level up” and celebrate their growth. 🚀🦅

Ms. Spivey fourth graders celebrate earning their first keychains for reading! In Spivey's class we believe that "Reading is the KEY to everything! Students earn a keychain for reaching goals in AR reading.

✍️ In Mrs. Tripp’s first grade class, our Eagles are hard at work practicing their handwriting skills!
Handwriting isn’t just about neat letters on a page—it’s directly connected to reading fluency, spelling, and building the foundation for future success. When students strengthen their handwriting, they’re also strengthening their brains for learning across all subjects. 💡📚
We are so proud of the way our first graders are preparing today for the readers, writers, and leaders they’ll become tomorrow! 🦅💙

🎉✨ Our Kindergarteners wrapped up their Letterland Quick Dash—a journey through all 26 letters and their sounds—with a big celebration Friday: the Letterland Parade! 🥳
Letterland is our phonics curriculum, and to bring the letters to life, each student was assigned one of the Letterland characters. From Abby Apple 🍎, Bouncy Ben 🐰, and Clever Cat 🐱, to Firefighter Fred 🚒, Sammy Snake 🐍, and even Lucy Lamp Light 💡, our little learners worked with their families to design costumes that showed off their special letter.
The whole school lined the halls to cheer them on as they paraded proudly through the building. Parents were beaming brighter than Lucy Lamp Light as they watched their kinders shine in the gym. 💛
A huge thank you to our amazing Eagle parents for helping make this celebration so special. If you have a Lee County Pre-K or Kindergarten student at home, ask them about the Letterlanders—you’re sure to hear some fun sounds and stories! 🦅

🔥💧🌬️ Science is heating up in Mrs. Cadavid’s and Mrs. Scott’s homerooms! Students have been exploring solids, liquids, and gases—and how heating and cooling can change matter.
Using the NC Science Standards, our young scientists are learning that:
Heating or cooling matter can cause it to change state (like ice melting or water boiling).
Some changes are reversible 🧊➡️💧 (melting ice).
Some changes are not reversible 🥞➡️🥞 (pancake batter becoming pancakes).
Cutting paper or reshaping clay doesn’t change what the material is, but burning paper or baking a cake does!
Today’s highlight? 🍿 Students observed kernels before and after heating to see how they transform—and then got to enjoy some tasty changes with freshly popped popcorn!
Our Eagles are making observations, gathering evidence, and even debating whether a change is reversible or not. From melting chocolate 🍫 to cooling water into ice ❄️, they are discovering the amazing ways matter can transform all around us!
👉 What’s your child’s favorite experiment so far—melting, freezing, boiling, baking, or popping popcorn?

📚✨ Did you know? In Grades 2–5, our Eagles participate in Accelerated Reader (AR) to build a love of reading and strengthen comprehension skills!
Here’s how it works:
✅ Students take a placement test each quarter to determine their ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) or reading level.
✅ They choose books they enjoy within their ZPD, and each book is assigned a level and point value.
✅ Students should be bringing home a book each night and reading at least 30 minutes.
🎯 AR Goals for Every Eagle:
Percent Correct: 85% or higher on quizzes
Book Level Goal: Individualized for each student
Point Goal: Based on 30 minutes of daily reading
At the end of each quarter, we will celebrate readers who meet their goals! 🎉
Let’s work together to encourage daily reading at home—your support makes a huge difference! 💙🦅
Picture day is coming up! Be on the lookout for information coming home this week in your child's folder about picture day!

🌟 Did you know our Eagles get to spread their wings in FIVE different specials each week? One of those is… ¡Español! 🇪🇸✨
In Spanish class with Mrs. Cuesta, first grade students were busy practicing their numbers—“uno, dos, tres…” 🎶 They’re learning to count and communicate in a whole new language, and we couldn’t be prouder!
We love giving our Eagles opportunities to explore, grow, and say ¡Hola! to new adventures every day. 💙🦅

ESL Family Night was a huge success thanks to Ms. Sanchez! Her warm welcome, group activities, and helpful resources made families feel connected and supported. We are so grateful for her dedication to our school community!
