Christina Stone from BT Bullock featured by Classroom Champions

B.T. Bullock Elementary School's Christina Stone has been dedicated to students for almost two decades now. Stone was recently - and very deservedly - highlighted for her successes in developing a "champion mindset" in her students by a program that she partners with, Classroom Champions.

Stone is a force at Bullock, and told Classroom Champions in the article that every year she arrives with the same belief; Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and believed in. Her impact on students goes beyond reading and math skills to help students reach deep within themselves and find the mindset, drive and determination of a champion that she believes lives inside each of them.

Dr. Kate Hylton is the Principal at B.T. Bullock and she described Christina like this, "Christina empowers both students and staff to have the champion mindset. She holds incredibly high expectations so that all students meet their potential. She is one of the most committed educators I have ever worked with."

Stone has been partnered with Classroom Champions since 2014, an organization that brings Olympic, Paralympic, NCAA and professional athletes to classrooms and school districts in an effort to facilitate a powerful, engaging and effective skill building curriculum.

Stone's connection with Classroom Champions is just another example of how Stone is focused on relationships. As a high school student, she met Lex Gillette while they were both in high school. Gillette was a track and field athlete that battled visual impairment, but excelled thanks to the teachers who supported and pushed him. Stone was there as well, even serving as a scribe for his biology notes in college before accessible technology was the norm.

Now a five-time Paralympic medalist, he works with Classroom Champions and as Stone followed his Paralympic journey and then career, she knew the powerful impact that Gillette's story and influence could have on students.
