Each year the Sanford Lions Club puts on a Peace Poster contest for the middle schools of Lee County Schools to participate in. This year the theme was Together As One. Students were allowed to use their individual creativity to design a poster that would reflect that theme. All three of our WLMS Peace Poster winners were 8th grade students: Diego Munoz Tovar in 3rd place, Maliyah McIver in 2nd, and Danna Tigre Castillo won 1st place. Each student who won received a cash prize: 3rd won $50, 2nd won $100, and 1st place won $150, and a chance to win $500 at the states level, and $5,000 at the international level, plus a trip to Hong Kong, China. Each of the participants in my art class shall receive a participation certificate and a beautiful green ribbon for their efforts in supporting peace through their poster creation. We would like to thank the Sanford Lions Club and Wendy Perez for the opportunity and partnership. Every year this contest brings like-minded artists together to consider a bigger cause to represent: World Peace. And we are grateful.

Congratulations to our Boys Soccer team on their win against Southern Middle! Our Girls Volleyball team also had an incredible match, taking it to three sets and coming so close to a win — keep up the hard work ladies! 💙💛
