Beasley-Mungin to take over as Principal at WB Wicker Elementary

SANFORD, NC – Following last night’s Lee County Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Chris Dossenbach announced the appointment of James Beasley-Mungin as the principal of W.B. Wicker Elementary School. Currently serving as assistant principal at the school, he will replace outgoing principal Aimee Petrarca as she moves to the principalship at West Lee Middle School in June.

In making the announcement, Dossenbach said, “As part of the leadership team at W.B. Wicker, James has been instrumental in helping position the school for academic success. He excels at building connections with staff, students and families, and community partners. As the school’s principal, I am confident he will continue the culture of high expectations for students while ensuring they have the support they need for success.”

Beasley-Mungin began his career in education in Pitt County. He joined Lee County Schools in 2015 as an English Language Arts teacher at Bragg Street Academy, where he served for six years. He joined the leadership team at W.B. Wicker Elementary School in the fall of 2021 as an administrative intern and was appointed assistant principal at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to continue leading W.B. Wicker into its next phase of success. W.B. Wicker holds a legacy in the community and it is important that we are navigating all of our scholars in the right direction to improve outcomes for themselves and the greater Sanford community,” commented Beasley-Mungin following his appointment.

Beasley-Mungin holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science from the New York Institute of Technology, along with a Master of School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
