At Southern Lee High School in Sanford, North Carolina, one educator stands out for his dedication, experience, and passion for construction education. With over a decade of teaching under his belt, he has become a cornerstone of the school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
A Journey Rooted in Construction
Originally from the Buffalo, New York area, this educator's journey into construction began early. He earned an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Technologies from SUNY Delhi, where his father also taught. This familial connection and the presence of construction in his family history made the field a natural choice. He then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Utica College of Syracuse University, graduating in 1988.
Transitioning to Education
After years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, he found fulfillment in training and mentoring new workers. This passion for teaching led him to transition into education, a field rich with educators in his family. In 2013, he began his tenure at Southern Lee High School, where he has since been shaping the next generation of construction professionals.
Life Beyond the Classroom
Outside the classroom, he is an avid supporter of the Buffalo Bills, having lived in the Buffalo area for years. His high school years were marked by a love for football, and he continues to enjoy the sport as a fan. Recently, he binge-watched the show 1923, reflecting his interest in historical narratives.
When it comes to unwinding, he cherishes walks on the beach with his wife. If the beach isn't accessible, he finds solace in his backyard, immersing himself in a good book.
Words to Live By
Guided by the motto "By Hammer and Hand, All Arts do Stand," he emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship and dedication in all endeavors.
