Getting Started in Lee County Schools

Lee County Schools is committed to student success through academic excellence, technological innovations, social responsibility, and life-long learning. We are ready to partner with you on your child's educational journey helping them acquire the social and academic skills they need to become a responsible and productive citizen.

The links in this section provide information on how to get started with our school district. Whether you are looking to register your student for Kindergarten or moving to our community and enrolling your student with us for the first time, we are ready to serve your needs and answer any questions you may have.

If you have questions about student registration, contact the Data Manager at the districted school for your address. If you are unsure of your assigned school, please reach out to the Student Services Department in our Central Office for assistance in answering your questions. Academic Standards & Testing Information

NC Standardized Testing & Opting Out

All students in North Carolina (including students with disabilities and students identified as ELs) are required to participate in the Annual Testing Program per state and federal requirements. To date, North Carolina does not allow any student to opt out of required testing unless there are extenuating circumstances, primarily related to serious health conditions. N.C. Admin. Code 06G .0315 requires all students in membership (i.e., enrolled in a school) to participate in the Annual Testing Program.

Student Services in LCS

The Student Services Department in Lee County Schools is built to surround students and families with the support that they need to thrive in their academic pursuits. Student Services encompasses many areas of student life. Our Student Services department specifically provides support for students who come from migrant or English Learner backgrounds, at-risk students and those who qualify for McKinney Vento Homeless Student supports, military families, and individuals who require additional support or accommodations due to physical, intellectual, mental, or behavioral challenges.

No matter the challenge that your family may be facing, LCS Student Services personnel are standing by to assist you to insure that the education your children need is able to be delivered to meet their unique needs.
