Lee County Schools—Updated COVID-19 Guidelines Based on recent changes to the StrongSchoolsNC toolkit that provides pandemic guidelines for schools, the Lee County Board of Education voted unanimously to make masks optional for students and staff beginning on Monday, February 21. Because of federal requirements, all students and staff are still required to wear masks on buses. Parents should keep their child at home if they are experiencing COVID-like symptoms and notify their school. Parents should have conversations with their child about whether they should wear a mask while in school. We will not utilize permission forms. Lee County Schools will no longer conduct individual contact tracing. We will use a group notification method (email, phone call, note or other appropriate forms of communication) for exposures utilizing groups such as classrooms, cafeterias, teams and buses.
