Lee County Schools will open a new elementary school – W.B. Wicker Elementary School – in August 2019. As part of the process for opening the new school, the Lee County Board of Education will realign elementary school attendance zones.
The timetable for approval of the attendance zones is as follows:
January 18, 2019 - The Facilities and Technology Committee of the Board reviewed three proposed options and selected Option A as the recommendation to present to the Board of Education.
January 22, 2019 - Board of Education Called Meeting – The proposed elementary school redistricting options were presented to the Board. After considering the Facilities and Technology Committee's recommendation, the Board voted to approve Option A as their preferred plan.
January 31 – Public Hearing, Lee County High School McLeod Auditorium, 1708 Nash Street, Sanford - 6 pm
February 5 – Public Hearing, Lee County High School McLeod Auditorium, 1708 Nash Street, Sanford - 6 pm
February 12 – Board of Education meeting to approve attendance zones, Lee County High School Core Curricular Building, 1708 Nash Street, Sanford – 6 pm. After considering public comments, the Board will take final action on the attendance zones.
