a summary the past week flew by... i had several meetings with the community, school staffs, and civic organizations. i had a great "meet & greet" at bullock elementary on tuesday--more great questions and comments. on wednesday, we had a great curriculum & instruction committee meeting with our high school representatives--from the comments of our teachers and principals, the year has gotten off to a great start. on thursday, i met with the edc/chamber steering committee. there were numerous constructive conversations about the economic future of our community and how to best ensure it. on thursday afternoon, i met with the staff at broadway elementary school; topics such as the budget, reading, parental involvement, student support, and powerschool dominated the conversation. on thursday night, i met with the kiwanis club--there were more comments and questions about the budget and the direction of our schools. overall, it was a very positive week--what reassures me about all of these meetings is the intense support that our schools have in the community. our citizens understand the importance of public education and want to help make lee county schools the best district possible. until next time... andy    andy bryan abryan@lee.k12.nc.us
