In 2025, W.B. Wicker proudly joined the North Carolina Community Schools Coalition after being awarded a Coalition grant. The Coalition is a vibrant network of schools, along with local and statewide partners, working together to promote the success and well-being of students, their families, and the broader community.

Through this statewide scaling initiative, the Coalition aims to support more than 23,000 students across North Carolina by fall 2026—and to continue expanding this important work with communities for years to come.

W.B. Wicker’s Central Regional Partner is Student U, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable education system so that every student served under the Student U umbrella has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.

At the heart of this work is the Community Schools Coordinator (CSC), who oversees the development of the W.B. Wicker Family Resource Center and manages its daily operations with care and dedication. The CSC leads the school advisory board, cultivates meaningful partnerships with community organizations, and coordinates supports that nurture students’ academic, emotional, and physical well-being. In addition, the CSC proudly supports the entire Wicker community—students, families, staff, and community partners—ensuring that everyone feels connected, valued, and empowered.
