Marching Band
Michael Wilkins is a native of Forest City, North Carolina and a graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina with both his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Music Education.
Mr. Wilkins is the director of bands at Lee County High School in Sanford, North Carolina and has been with Lee County Schools since 1985. He began his teaching career at East Lee Jr. High School in Sanford and has been at Lee County High School since 1989. He is the director of the Award Winning Marching Yellow Jacket Band and also directs the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Stage Band.
Mr. Wilkins and the Marching Yellow Jackets have received numerous Superior Ratings and Grand Champion Awards during his tenure at LCHS. He is also the founder of the Lee County High School Winter Guard.
Mr. Wilkins is a member of the Southeastern District Bandmasters Association, North Carolina Music Educators Association and North Carolina Association of Educators.
He is also a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Sanford where he serves as a deacon, sings in the Sanctuary Choir and directs the Hand Bell choir.
