Meet the Assistant Principal, Elayne Monjar

Hello, my name is Elayne Monjar!   I am happy to be working as an assistant principal at Deep River Elementary School this year!  I am excited to be working with the best group of teachers, staff, and families in Lee County Schools.

As an administrator, I want to ensure all students receive a well-rounded education in a safe environment for all learners.  I will work with Mrs. Coggins, teachers, staff, and families to ensure that our students enjoy their elementary school experience.

As an NC Teaching Fellow, I received my Bachelor of Arts in History from Elon University.  After graduating from Elon University, I was lucky enough to find Lee County Schools and be hired as a Social Studies teacher at Lee County High School.  I taught social studies for a total of 9 years.  During my time at LCHS, I found my passion for supporting students and encouraging them to find their path in life.  I worked with students in various organizations and taught different classes.  I was named Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year.

In the fall of 2020, I was named Lee County School's representative for the Sandhills Region Education Consortium's Principal Development Program.  With the SREC program, I earned my master’s degree in School Administration from UNC Pembroke.

I was the assistant principal at SanLee Middle School from April 2022 to August 2024.  I count myself blessed to learn middle school from well-experienced and knowledgeable administrators, teachers, and staff.  I will take all of the many lessons and skills that I learned at SanLee and use them at Deep River Elementary School.

During my time at Deep River Elementary, I look forward to working with all teachers, staff, and families to support our students.  Elementary school is the foundation for lifelong learning and I am thrilled to help support our students’ growth and development.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and furbabies.  I also love traveling, reading good books, and finding new local hot spots to enjoy!

If I can be of any help, then please do not hesitate to contact me by emailing me or calling Deep River Elementary School.
