SIT stands for School Improvement Team. School Improvement Teams are required by North Carolina law to develop school improvement plans. These plans set goals and allow team members to collaborate on ways to achieve the goals and needs of the school. In addition to this responsibility, the team may provide input on issues such as school programs, philosophy, climate, and safety. School Improvement Teams are considered a public body and are subject to open meeting laws. Staff, parents and community members are always welcome to attend and observe the meetings.
At Bragg Street Academy, elected teachers and staff will be on this committee. Action items will be distributed to the entire staff but will be assigned by the SIT committee. SIT team will meet each month on the first Monday of each month.
Dates: September 12th, October 3rd, November 7th, December 12th, January 9th, February 8th, March 8th, April 12th, May 8th and June 5th.
2022-2023 elected team members are: Courtney Martindale, Emily Tyler, Aymee Tiffany, Erica Towns and Shannon Shuey
There are five main steps that the SIT and the referring teacher should follow.
-
Review and Assess each Key Indicator within Indistar
-
Action Steps are developed, implemented and evaluated through the school year
-
Ensure that Action Steps for change are interconnected with MTSS and improvements needed with the NC Teacher Working Condition Survey.
-
A representative within the team will coordinate with the administrator to manipulate the Indistar system.
-
A representative within the team will speak to the parents representative prior to the meeting each month. If the parent is not able to attend the meeting, the representative will speak to the parent about the SIP plan and progress on action steps. This representative will be responsible to bring back questions/concerns/feedback from the parent to the meeting so that it is recorded within the minutes of the meeting
