I am a graduate of Lee County High School (LCHS). I played basketball all four years at LCHS. I was a member of the Freshman, JV, and Varsity Men's Basketball teams. I played Varsity Men's Basketball for two years under Coach Peace. During my senior year, we finished second in the state in the Men’s 4A State Championship. After graduation, I decided to attend CCCC and continued playing basketball for two years. After completing my Associate's Degree, I transferred to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW). My focus shifted to Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science. My internship was split between the student recreation center, as a personal trainer, and working with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.
After graduating from UNCW, I decided to further my education at Appalachian State University (ASU). I obtained my Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning. While at ASU, I served as a Graduate Assistant within their Strength and Conditioning program. During this time I assisted with the Football, Basketball, Cheerleading, Tennis, and Golf programs. I served as the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for Men’s & Women’s Soccer as well as the Softball team.
I started my teaching career at Wilkes Community College as an adjunct instructor. Over the next few years, I started teaching more classes that included: Introduction to Basketball, Weight Training, Circuit Training, and Fitness and Your Health. I also served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for their Baseball and Volleyball teams. In 2013, I began teaching as an adjunct instructor at ASU. I taught an Exercise Science lab my first year. The following year, I picked up a class in the Public Health program. I continue to teach this course on-line today.
I started teaching at LCHS in 2017 after living in Boone, NC for 10 years. I am entering my fourth year as a Health & PE teacher here at LCHS. In addition to teaching, I have coached Men’s Track and Field for two years. Currently, I am entering my third year as the JV Men’s Basketball Head Coach. I have served as an Assistant Coach for Men’s Varsity Basketball all four years. Last fall, I was named the Co-Athletic Director here at LCHS, alongside Coach Peace.
My wife and I were married in 2017 near Boone, NC. We currently have four animals: Jasper, our only dog, is a Beagle/Jack Russell mix. We also have three cats: MJ, Pippen, and Carter; named after our favorite basketball players.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family.
Favorite hobbies: working around our house, mowing the grass, Olympic Weightlifting, strength training, playing golf, yoga, going on walks, and really anything outdoors or sports related.
I also enjoy watching basketball, football, golf, and baseball.
Favorite athletes: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James.
How I spent my summer:
I learned how to fix various things around our house through YouTube videos, talking with my Father and Father-In-Law, and friends. I also learned how to water ski and kneeboard for the first time.
