    Health Sciences are an ever-changing landscape and now you have someone to help guide you!

    There are three courses offered by Lee County High School this year: Health Sciences 1, Health Sciences 2 and foundations of Health Sciences. Each course is available for a single CTE credit in the Health Sciences Cluster and will help you develop into the future medical practitioner you want to become.     Health Sciences 1 (Course Description):

    This is a single semester course worth on CTE credit and will fulfill credits toward job readiness and introduce the concepts of body structures and functions. This is an entry level course where we will explore the organ systems such as the digestive, integumentary, Nervous system and more! You will also get the chance to learn the lingo of the medical arts. There will be chances to get involved in HOSA and interact with Professionals in the health care system. 

     


    Health Sciences 2 (Course Description):

    This is a single semester course worth one CTE credit and will fulfill credits toward job readiness in the medical field. You should only be in this course if you have completed either HS1 or The Fundamentals of Health Sciences.  We will review many of topics related to the health care and introduce some new ones including The qualities of health care professionals, employability skills, healthcare safety and infection control,  cardiovascular and respiratory systems/EMS, and the domains of healthcare. You will also get the chance to participate in HOSA opportunities and interact with Professionals who work in Medicine! 

     


    Foundations of Health Sciences (Course Description):

    This is a single semester course worth one CTE credit and will fulfill credits toward job readiness.  We cover a multitude of topics related to the health care field including Basic Medical Terminology, History of Health care, medical ethics, Medical Math /applied concepts, and Medical legal concepts. We will also delve into the world of job readiness and exploration of different jobs associated with Health care and what Health Care Professionals look like.  You will also get the chance to participate in HOSA opportunities and interact with Professionals who work in Medicine!
