Ms. Angela Matthews

Ms. Matthews is a native of Pittsylvania County Virginia.  She received her bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2003 at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia.  While at Liberty University, Ms. Matthews was a part of the marching band, the Spirit of the Mountain, and the jazz ensemble, The Sweet 16.  Ms. Matthews performed her senior recital in December of 2003 at Pate Chapel in Lynchburg, Virginia.  She student taught at Jefferson Forest High School, Forest Middle School, and Forest Elementary School in Bedford, Virginia.  She student taught under the 2013 Bedford County Public Schools & Commonwealth of Virginia Region 5 Teacher of the Year, David Webb.  

Ms. Matthews graduated from Radford University in Radford Virginia in 2010 with a Master of Arts degree in Music.  During her tenure at Radford University, she was a Resident Director for Peery Hall and Muse Hall, as well as an adjunct professor in the music department.  Her master's thesis was entitled, "Russian Realism in the Music of Modest Mussorgsky." 

Ms. Matthews taught in Virginia for over 15 years before moving to North Carolina and teaching at Southern Lee High School.  She has been at Southern Lee since 2018.  


Ms. Matthews is a fan of the San Francisco 49ers and dogs.  She resides in Apex NC with her two dogs, Sir and Wolfie.
