Southern Lee High School's certified athletic trainer covers our 14 sports and 29 teams at the junior varsity, and varsity levels. The Sports Medicine Facility/Training Room is located in the 900 hall in room 931, across from the auxilary gym.
During practices and home games, a certified athletic trainer is available to evaluate injuries and provide immediate and follow up care. Athletic trainers educate the Southern Lee High School community about nutrition, healthy living, first aid, CPR, and the effects of harmful substances. The Southern Lee High School sports medicine student aide program also allows our own students to assist with the everyday operations of the athletic training room, on-field practice, and game coverage under direct supervision of the certified athletic trainer. If interested, please visit the "Sports Medicine Student Aide" section on this page to learn more and stop by room 931 to pick up/drop off a prospective packet.
Our athletic trainer also teaches during normal school hours. Courses offered at SLHS include 2 levels of Sports Medicine, I & II, during 3rd and 4th block. In these classes, students learn about various topics related to sports medicine. These topics include career paths in medicine, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, biology, sports injuries, nutrition, emergency care, CPR & first aid, medical conditions, health-care administration, manual therapy, rehabilitation, & prevention of injuries.
