Visual Arts Advanced Course Description

This course focus is the development of a personal voice and aesthetic in creating art.  The advanced student must be self-directed and actively take ownership of their portfolio.  Students should be self-directed and will actively explore a wide range of techniques, media and processes.  Students will engage in personal and peer; formal and informal; oral and written critiques.  Reflection, journaling and a final artist’s statement will be required.  This class will give the self-motivated art student the opportunity to experiment, explore and expand their knowledge and ability.  This class will challenge the student’s creative potential, as well as provide a supportive environment for the pursuit of further opportunities in art.  Students will be expected to exhibit their portfolio.
