Visual Arts Beginning Course DescriptionThis course is the foundation of visual arts study. It is an introduction to the creation of visual art through drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history. Emphasis is on the development of visual art techniques and skill, incorporating the study and use of the Elements and Principles of Art. Students will explore and learn the context of art in our world and will begin to develop methods to critique artwork, both historical and their own. Students will create and develop personal sketchbooks as they explore techniques to build skill with pencil, chalk pastel, clay, tempera paint, watercolor paint and marker.
