    Welcome to the webpage of

The Mary Seymore Carter Chapter of the National Honor Society

NHS is a service oriented organization that does projects to better our school and community. We also raise money to support those projects and LCHS academic teams. This year our goal is to promote integrity in our school community.

Invitations to 2022 - 2023 qualified Juniors and Seniors will be handed to you in one of your classes in October. If you are not contacted by October 28th and you think you qualify, please come see Mrs. Miller in Career 1324.  Seniors (Class of 2023) inducted last year are still in if they have maintained their GPAs.

The criteria to be inducted are a weighted GPA of 3.65, and active participation in 3 activities, (2 of these must be at school). Activities are things that are done primarily outside of class hours. Examples include clubs, sports, marching band, drama, civic organizations, ongoing volunteer work, and church youth groups. Employment does not count as an activity.  If your GPA qualifies, you will be invited to submit an activities form in November.

To recieve an NHS stole for graduation, members must display the 4 values of NHS - Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character. As part of the 'Service' value, they must have 20 hours of verifiable community service in the time that they are members of NHS. Two of those hours have to be with NHS or previously approved by Mrs. Miller.

NHS will meet twice a month on a day to be determined at our first meeting.

All members are expected to attend.
