Born and raised in Sanford, I graduated from LCHS in 2011 and went on to NC State where I earned a BA in Communication with a concentration in media studies, as well as minors in Journalism and Theatre. I also earned an MS from Syracuse University in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. After graduation, I worked at CBS19 in Charlottesville, VA as a sports reporter and anchor for two-and-a-half years before moving back home and working as a sports photographer at WRAL. Ultimately, I felt unfulfilled in the journalism field and decided to get in the classroom.

As I enter my third year in education, I am excited to be tackling new classes, teaching English II and Journalism I. Journalism is something I am extremely passionate about, having studied and worked in the industry for seven years during and after college.This class will lay the framework for what I hope to be a successful journalism program at LCHS that will extend beyond the classroom! I'm also extremely excited to launch the fully digital school newspaper, The Jacket Journal. This will be open to all students in an attempt to bring all news about LCHS to all members of the community.

When not working, I can be found cooking, working in my family's vegetable garden, or doing some other activity outside. I also love sports of any kind. If there is a game on, I can probably be found watching it or reading about it somewhere. My family is so important to me. Without their support, I would not be in the classroom today.
