    Course Description: Math III progresses from the standards learned in Math I and Math II. In addition to these standards, Math III extended to include algebraic concepts such as: the complex number system, inverse functions, trigonometric functions and the unit circle. Math III also includes the geometric concepts of conics and circles. 


    Units of Study

    1. Functions and their Inverses 
    2. Polynomial Functions 
    3. Rational Functions
    4. Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
    5. Modeling with Geometry
    6. Reasoning with Geometry  
    7. Trigonometric Functions 
    8. Statistics 


    Required Supplies:

    • 2 Composition Notebooks (no spiral)  
    • Pencils 
    • Pens
    • Highlighters  
    • Graph paper 
    • Whiteboard markers
    • Earbuds for laptop

    ***Any classroom supplies such as boxes of Kleenex, Clorox Wipes, sanitizer,  pencils, paper towels, and whiteboard markers would be greatly appreciated.  

     Grading Scale:

    A- 90-100

    B- 80-89

    C- 70-79

    D- 60-69

    F- 59 and below


    Classroom Assignment Weights:

    Minor Assignments:  60%

    (practice assignments and quizzes)

    Major Assignments:  40%

    (assessments and projects)

    • Students have the  OPTION to redo ANY assignment to increase their score (EXTRA CREDIT).  Corrections should be completed on a separate sheet of paper and stapled to the original assignment.  NO WORK = NO CREDIT.  Students will receive half credit for corrections on any assignment except for Spiral review.  Students will receive full credit when correcting Spiral reviews.


    • Progress Reports:  Progress reports will be sent home every 4 ½ weeks.  If you have questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please feel free to contact me at any time during the semester.  The Parent Assist Module of PowerTeacher is also available for parents to regularly check their child’s progress online.  Please use the module to check your child’s grade regularly and contact me ASAP with any questions or concerns.


    • Homework:

    Homework will USUALLY be assigned  Monday-Thursday.  Friday will be reserved for making up missing assignments or correcting assignments.  Homework assignments will be posted in the classroom as well as in Canvas.


     If a student misses over 8 days in a semester for any reason, they will automatically fail the class.  Students must make up all assignments missed due to absence.

    Classroom Expectations:


    1. Be respectful! Rudeness, disrespect, sleeping, and bullying will not be tolerated in our classroom. Remember to show respect for yourself and others in our classroom. 
    2. Be prompt! You must be in your seat and working on your warm-up when the bell rings. 
    3. Be prepared daily! You must come to class with your notebook, a pencil, paper, your calculator, and homework. 
    4. No hats, hoods, or electronic devices during class
    5. Be responsible! You are accountable for your own learning and success! Take every opportunity to learn as much as you can. 
    6. Absolutely NO FOOD OR DRINKS in class. (Water is the ONLY exception)

    2. Conference with the teacher and/or phone call to parents/guardians 
    3. Lunch/ After School Detention
    4. Office Referral
