ALL ABOUT ME
I earned my BS in Business Management from Auburn University in 1991. I then finished my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Troy University just 4 years later. During college, I was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and enjoy working with the KKG chapter at NC State where I served as an advisor. As an Alabama native, I'm a huge Auburn fan and faithfully follow the Auburn Tigers. I also support the Cavaliers of Southern Lee and the Carolina panthers. My son graduated as a Cavalier in 2012. I've been married for over 30 years to my husband, Lyn.
Before I began teaching, I was a corporate Human Resources Director working for Russell Corporation, LSG Sky Chefs at the RDU Airport and Cree in Durham. I enjoy training and working with people. As a teacher, I am still involved with careers and job preparation but at a different level.
The 2021-2023 school year is my 18th with Lee County Schools and my 13th year at Southern Lee. After teaching at West Lee Middle School for four years, I transferred to Southern Lee. I've taught Multimedia and Web Page Design, E-Commerce Honors, Digital Media and Microsoft Imagine Academy's Word & PowerPoint. I'm also Southern's webpage manager as well as the media coordinator for the Cavalier Connection online. I am excited about the 2022-2023 school year as the Director of Adobe Academy. I will be teaching Adobe Visual, Adobe Video, and Business Management this school year. I was honored to be selected as Southern Lee High School's Teacher Of The Year for 2020-2021 and strive to improve the education of my students every day. At Southern Lee, my additional roles include serving on the Cheer Committee and Advisor for the National Technical Honor Society. I am also the webpage manager and media coordinator for the Cavalier Connection. I am part of a state wide Adobe PLC which brings together Adobe Academy teachers from across the state.
In my free time, I attend meetings of the Sandhills Photography Club. I am a huge McLaren fan and never miss a F1 race. I spend as much time as I can on Topsail Island and try to capture it's beauty through the lens. I love 90's alternative music and will watch any British show. I subscribe to BritBox and Acorn to watch new episodes. I am an avid reader and average 5 books a week during the summer. I also listen to 10+ podcasts weekly on various topics.
