About the ACT and SAT:
The ACT or SAT are required for freshman admission to most 4-year colleges.
The ACT is offered for free during school in February to all juniors. Students planning on attending a 4-year college should see how their scores compare to the schools they want to attend. If your scores are low or average for that school, retake the ACT and/or try the SAT! You might do better on one or the other, and almost all colleges accept both, so you should take both and submit your better score.
Note: If you plan on attending community college and then transferring to a 4-year college after earning your associate's degree, then you may not have to retake the ACT/SAT: most colleges do not require standardized test scores for transfer admission, and community colleges do not require them.
