  • Lee County Schools moves to Plan B beginning October 5

SANFORD — During a special called meeting on September 16, the Lee County Board of Education approved a plan to move to the State’s Plan B-Moderate Social Distancing for grades K-8 beginning on October 5. High school students will continue with remote learning under Plan C until a decision is made in the near future.

Under Plan B, students will transition to in-person instruction over a three-week period, starting Monday, October 5 on an A/B schedule. Grade levels will be phased in to allow time for students to learn new school routines and procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff, such as temperature checks upon arriving at school, maintaining social distancing when standing in lines and moving through the school building, frequent hand washing, and wearing a mask.

The schedule for Plan B can be found below and here. An FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) with guidance for instruction, health and safety, and transportation will be posted on the website by Friday, September 18.

Students enrolled in the INSPIRED Virtual Academy will remain enrolled at their home school and will follow a schedule that closely aligns to those students receiving in-person instruction. Families with questions about enrollment in the virtual academy should contact their child’s school.

Students and their families will be contacted by school staff over the next two weeks to discuss the move to in-person learning or to the virtual academy to ensure a smooth transition for each child.

Lee County Schools has created a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for our Plan B regarding guidance on instruction, health and saftey and transportation for students and staff. This FAQ will be updated as additional questions arise and more information becomes available. By sharing the link to the Google doc (view only) the document will automatically update as changes are made.

Here is the link to the Spanish FAQ Google doc.
