HAPPY 3.14 DAY!!!
REMINDER:
ANNOUNCEMENT: Today is the day, March 14th, is the National College Fair in Raleigh at the Civic Center from 4:30 to 7:30. The student must register at the following Website:
www.nacacnet.org/college-fairs/SpringNCF/Pages/Raleigh.aspx
- this college fair is one of a kind in that most of North Carolina's colleges and universities will be present and numerous colleges from out of state and across our nation will be present. This college fair is only offered once a year in this area, and it is open to all who wish to attend for FREE. The colleges who will be in attendance are listed alphabetically on the Website; please Juniors through middle schoolers, plan to attend!!! I have been talking about this event for over two months on the blog! Please remember that you must pay in cash for parking - $7.00! Have fun and read last weeks blog posts for specific info on the college fair.
Overall Admission Rate is most important to students as they are beginning the college search. It allows future applicants to know how many students apply to that school, how many students are accepted, how many students fill the freshman class, and percentages. It is a most important aspect that most students overlook in their list making. It tells a student if the school is highly selective, selective, or an easy admission. Let’s compare the UNC System Colleges and Universities in this area;
Overall Admission Rate:
(From highly selective – based on percentages - to sure bet type of schools) – All numbers below based on 2015!
-
UNC Chapel Hill = 25% of 31,835 applicants (This year, 2016, they received 41,500+ applications and they still accepted the same number meaning they accepted 18%!)
-
North Carolina Central University = 39% of 7,989 applicants
-
Western Carolina University = 39% of 15,142 applicants
-
North Carolina State University = 40% of 24,616 applicants(Largest schools and Land Grant Institution)
-
Elizabeth City State University = 52% of 3,040 applicants
-
Winston Salem State University = 54% of 4,068 applicants
-
North Carolina A & T State University = 55% of 7,368 applicants
-
UNC Wilmington = 57% of 10,838 applicants
-
UNC Greensboro = 58% of 10,154 applicants
-
Fayetteville State University = 61% of 4,106 applicants
-
UNC Charlotte = 63% of 14,300 applicants
-
Appalachian State University = 66% of 13,673 applicants
-
UNC Asheville = 69% of 3,173 applicants
-
UNC Pembroke = 72% of 3,087 applicants
-
East Carolina University = 73% of 15,320 applicants
-
North Carolina School of the Arts = NOT Reported
It is important to realize the number of applicants to schools and the percentage of students who are accepted. Now granted, all the students who are accepted will not attend so colleges do over accept – some more than others. This info should be a part of any student's equation when creating a college list and guess what....Juniors need to be finalizing that list and freshmen and sophomores need to be starting a list!
Have a extraordinary great day on this Tuesday!!
